Apple iPhone 15 will have USB-C port, company confirmsNovember 17, 2022
The next iPhone generation is rumoured to have different charging ports for different models.
- Apple confirms that they will adopt USB-C for iPhone 15 models and higher.
- Earlier the European Union had fined the tech giant several times for not adopting this decision.
- Apple is not happy with this decision and being indirectly forced to adopt USB-C.
The iPhone 15 Series is likely to have two models. The low-end model and the high-end model or ‘Pro’ version. These models are rumoured to have different charging and data transfer ports.
The European Union had fined the Cupertino-based tech giant several times for not adopting USB-C ports for iPhones. They issued a statement stating that all phone manufacturing companies should switch to USB-C instead of any other traditional port. This decision mainly affects Apple and its users using the thunderbolt port.
This decision is taken so that e-waste generation could be reduced. Apple has a policy about recycling its products but they do not have any policy about recycling its accessories such as cables and adapters.
Though the company is using the USB-C ports in iPad and Macs, they are not happy with this decision they are being forced to take. Apple has been using the thunderbolt port for more than a decade and one of its representatives at that time said that the company would be using this port for over a decade. The decade has passed and now they will have to move to a new port to avoid further fines imposed by governments across the world.
Apple has now confirmed that they will be switching over to USB-C port for their iOS running devices and we could expect to see upcoming iPhone models having this port. It is also rumoured that iPhone 15 models could have different ports- thunderbolt 3 and USB-C.
