Apple AR/VR Headset Delayed Until Second Half of 2023December 4, 2022
According to an update released today by tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, mass shipments of Apple’s long-rumoured AR/VR headsets will be delayed until late 2023 due to an unspecified “software-related issue.”
- Mass shipments of fully assembled headsets may not begin until the year’s second half.
- The shipments are being delayed due to some “software-related issues.”
- Apple’s AR/VR headset would be the company’s expensive product.
Kuo said mass shipments of the headset’s components are likely to begin as early as the first half of 2023, but mass shipments of the fully assembled headset may not begin until later this year. Even if Apple announces it before the second half of 2023, the delay could mean the headset launches in late 2023.
WWDC 2023 in June would be a good time for Apple to unveil the headset and an SDK for developers creating AR/VR apps for their devices.
Kuo has previously claimed that Apple will unveil the headset at its January event and will start mass shipping in the second quarter of 2023.
It is said that Apple’s headset could be an expensive product and the company will ship fewer than 500,000 models in the second half of 2023.
