Five years ago this week, Apple launched the iMac Pro. It was claimed at the time as “the most powerful Mac ever made.” In March 2021, Apple announced that it would end sales of the “iMac” Pro. At that point, the machine had been overtaken by the Mac Pro 2019, the recent major update to the 27-inch iMac, and the first Apple Silicon Macs. In April 2021, Apple announced the 24-inch “iMac” as the first all-in-one desktop Mac with an Apple M1 chip. Apple discontinued its Intel-based 27-inch iMac in March 2022.

Display Supply Chain Consultants analyst Ross Young says Apple is working on an iMac with a 27-inch mini-LED display with ProMotion starting in 2021, but they haven’t heard much since the launch of the Mac Studio. The studio display in March this year has faded. When Apple announced these two new devices, he praised them for their “modularity” and overall positioning between the iMac and the Mac Pro. Therefore, the position of the “Mac Studio” in Apple’s lineup aroused suspicions that there was simply no more room for the “Pro” and “iMac.” According to other reports, Apple may or may not have plans to release a new “iMac” Pro or an “iMac” with a larger display anytime soon.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple may be working on a new iMac Pro which would be launched in 2023. It is rumoured that it would be equipped with M3 Pro or M3 Max chips.

Some analysts and other sources have claimed the fact that Apple will be releasing iMac Pro’s new model in 2023. Some sources also described the Mac Studio’s gaming experience as “terrible.”
